John McCally directs and oversees pre-production and off-line editing. He studied filmmaking at the University of Bridgeport (BFA), and the Yale School of Art (MFA) where his short experimental films received numerous awards, including a student Academy Award nomination. He started his career as a crewperson in the NY indie film community, working first as a lighting technician for feature films, documentaries and TV commercials. He became a union Director of Photography in 1986, and over the next several years, shot and directed 35mm commercials in New York City. In 1991, John joined children's entertainment company Rabbit Ears Productions as they expanded to include a second staff director. He quickly adapted to the world of video, and is very pleased to be able to shepherd his directing work through all phases of post. John is married to Stone House partner Cheryl Carlesimo, and lives in Westport, CT with their twin daughters, Maggie and Rogan.
